During the lockdown imposed across much of Europe in Spring 2020 to combat the spread of Covid-19 the artist initiated a new series of head and shoulders portraits in order to develop painting techniques not previously explored owing either to time or resource restrictions. Limited temporarily to smaller canvas's and unable to replenish usual brush supplies, the artist made said portraits using palette knives and thick oil colours to create semi destroyed images of anonymous suited men in various states of psychological implosion. More obvious in those that are gurning maniacally than others which vibrate in silent horror, they collectively form a portrait of early 21st century European man and his struggle to grasp the limits of his waining power.
